  2. This license shall automatically terminate if you violate any of these restrictions and may be terminated by Company at any time. Coaching Agreement

By enrolling in Agile Author Coaching, you are agreeing to be bound by this agreement.

This agreement, between Matt Lewis Allen (herein named as COACH) and yourself (herein named as CLIENT), will begin on the date you enroll and will continue on a month-to-month basis at the discretion of both parties.

1. SERVICES

Description of Services - COACH will provide editorial feedback and coaching with the intention of helping CLIENT develop a book-length work suitable for publication. The services COACH may provide include things like guidance on the development of the book concept, intention, and structure; editing the text line-by-line for clarity, impact, and narrative flow; guidance on writing a story synopsis; guidance on the development of query letters, and guidance on the development of a pitch strategy.

Line editing, copy editing, and proofreading services are not included. Additional services or adaptations to the above may be provided based on mutual agreement for any additional charges where applicable.

No Guarantees - COACH will bring their writing and editing experience to your project but cannot guarantee any kind of specific outcome due to the nature of publishing. CLIENT makes no guarantees as to the saleability or marketability of your work, nor can they guarantee that their work on your project will help you land an agent or earn any kind of income from your book.

Coaching Calls - COACH will record all coaching calls with CLIENT, and a recording will be made available within 24 hours. All calls will take place via Zoom. You will receive a link via Teachable that allows you to access this call. These calls will not be used for anything other than CLIENT or COACH reference. If you don't want COACH to record these calls, please let them know in advance.

Formatting Requirements - Please submit your pages as a Microsoft Word document (.docx) in 12- point Times New Roman font, double-spaced, with 1" margins on all sides. These guidelines apply whenever you are submitting words. This format is called Standard Manuscript Format and it's the industry standard for submitting documents.

2. PAYMENT

Payment Information – Payment is due monthly in advance and will be scheduled through Teachable and Stripe.

Refund Policy – Monthly payments are non-refundable. The COACH is not able to provide refunds for any and all collected payments. The CLIENT understands this provision and agrees that he/she/they are not entitled to a refund once payment has been issued to COACH. When CLIENT schedules monthly coaching CLIENT is reserving the time of COACH for that month. CLIENT further agrees and understands the details of the Program, not experiencing the results he/she/they expected or desired, or experiencing any other similar situations does not entitle him/her/them to a refund.

3. COPYRIGHT & WORK-FOR-HIRE

Copyright Information - Any and all contributions made by COACH to your work shall be deemed a "work-made-for-hire" within the meaning of the United States Copyright Act of 1976. For copyright purposes, CLIENT shall be considered the author of the work and CLIENT shall be the owner of the copyright and other rights of every kind. Nothing contained in this Agreement shall be construed to create the relationship of employer and employee, principal and agent, partnership or joint venture, or any other duciary relationship.

4. USE OF NAME AND LIKENESS

Testimonial Requests - COACH may reach out and ask for feedback on your experience working with them. Should you choose to provide feedback, COACH will ask for your consent to use your name (real name or pen name), book cover, book title, and likeness in their testimonials, marketing, and advertising campaigns. This is completely optional, and you do not have to participate. If you choose not to participate, COACH will not use your name, book cover, book title, or likeness for anything.

5. CONTACT AND SCHEDULING

Contact Policy - COACH can be contacted through the Teachable coaching platform. COACH will endeavour to respond to all such contact as soon as possible, but there may take up to 72 hours to do so.

Scheduling Policy - All Zoom calls must be scheduled in advance. Upon receipt of payment, you will receive a link in Teachable to book a time on COACH’s calendar. COACH recommends booking calls roughly 7 days apart or 14 days apart depending on your package. All calls will take place via Zoom and you will receive a Zoom link in your confirmation email. If you need to reschedule or cancel your call, please give COACH at least 24-hour notice.

Deadline Policy - Please submit your pages in Teachable 48 hours before your scheduled call. This gives COACH enough time to read through your pages, write up their feedback, and send you back the pages for your review before the call. If a submission deadline is missed, CLIENT must wait until the following week to submit their pages. If a deadline is missed, and a call is cancelled, the deadline may be forfeited if no additional time is left in the month.

Termination Policy - If CLIENT misses two deadlines, the package may be terminated by COACH at their discretion with no refund granted for the month of the last missed deadline. Reinstatement is at COACH’s discretion, and the start date will be based on COACH’s availability.
